The Fire Mountains or Timanfaya: Situated in the centre of the islands, they represent a vast extension of land devastated during 6 years by colossal volcanic eruptions, 1730~1736, that transformed the landscape of the island. The last volcanic eruption took place in 1824.
There's a bar-restaurant and shopping area, many spectacular surprises, but the visit to the lunar route is organised by bus, it is impossible to walk on your own on the lava for respect to flora and fauna, it is worth the visit, you will feel like stepping in another planet, and regardless of point in time, there are fantastic light colours. With very little imagination you can see what a volcanic eruption can be.
